President's Call

President's Call

Dear Friends of KidCare,

As the needs of the most disadvantaged children in the world continue to grow, courageous individuals serving with KidCare answer the call to become world changers. This process first began in my life over twenty years ago when I felt challenged to take action and do something to help desperately disadvantaged children.

It began with what I believe is a CALL, grew into a burning CHALLENGE, and eventually brought about CHANGE that has impacted the destiny of thousands of children. Here is how I see the process as it began its work in me:

The CALL
It starts with a whisper… but the voice gets louder.
The CALL is deep and personal…it speaks to my true self.
The CALL is compassionate…it says "I really do care about the needs of others."
The CALL is spiritual. It's a tugging toward God-
When you hear it-you… just know.

"As our planet's troubles deepen and the nations get more desperate
this voice can be clearly heard."

It can be pushed down – but not for long…can be ignored… but not forever. It is a CALL of significance, to commit myself to the world and my work in it.

Thomas Kelly wrote,
"We are unhappy, uneasy, strained, oppressed, and fearful we shall be shallow. Over the margins of life comes a whisper, a faint call, a premonition of richer living which we know we are passing by…we have hints that there is a way of life vastly richer and deeper than all this hurried existence…"

The CHALLENGE
CHALLENGE means that I listen to the CALL.
When I accept CHALLENGE it means I become willing to take an honest, eye opening look around at real need.
Impossible, I might say, Overwhelming, I think. It seems unrealistic.
The need is too great to answer this call and challenge.
Here is where faith rescues CHALLENGE.
With faith we gather the courage to examine the CHALLENGE.

The CHANGE
The CHALLENGE to the CALL is to CHANGE…to become World Changers.

CHANGE is exciting! I can make good things happen.
I get to create CHANGE.
It is more than the CALL.
Its takes me further than CHALLENGE!
CHANGE means I take action which produce measurable results.
CHANGE happens with I take responsibility for the CALL and CHALLENGE.

It is rewarding to know when we decide to respond, no matter how small, children's lives CHANGE…their circumstances…and their destiny.

I challenge you to listen and respond to the CALL and become a World Changer today.

Holy Eucharist

Sunday, January 31, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Worship in the Episcopal Church rests on scripture and the traditions of the elegant language of the Book of Common Prayer. While the worship might seem more formal than spontaneous, we reliably read scripture every time we worship together, and we follow the liturgy that has stood the test of time. Our worship is in letting the liturgy carry us along into a deeper spiritual awareness and connection with God.
